From time to time, rescuers and animal shelters encounter dogs who lean on each other for support. Sometimes they literally lean on each other. This is the story of Louie and Bridget, the dogs who were there for each other since the beginning of their adoption journey.
One picture captured the hearts of a lot of people. Particularly the foster parents, Minda and Kasey. It was a picture of Bridget and Louie hunched over in a corner leaning on each other.
The previous owners surrendered them to a shelter without saying a word. The looked so broken, and all they had left was each other. The foster parents who saw the picture wanted to take care of the two dogs. They want to show them what love feels like.
Louie was scared and very timid. He would hide under Bridget while shaking. Bridget acted like the dog who needed to keep Louie safe. She fulfilled that role very well. These two trusted each other more than they believed in anyone else.
Bridget immediately took off to a couch upon arriving at her foster home. She finally had a place to relax. Louie was very attached to Bridget, to the point that he slept in the same crate as her. Of course, they were welcome to bond like that.
The two dogs opened up more when they were inside the foster home. But what made them more comfortable was the presence of the foster parent’s other dogs. They got more excited when playing in groups.
No matter how confident and comfortable Bridget and Louie got, they still stuck together. The foster parents knew that they had to be adopted together. Fortunately, they found the perfect person to adopt them.
A kind woman named Monica adopted the two dogs. She was a follower of the duo’s journey all the way back when their picture went viral. The foster parents drove all the way from Houston to San Diego. Bridget and Louie found a forever home.
