Last March, a video of a puppy playing Jenga went viral. People couldn’t get enough of the five-month-old Labrador retriever and her adept block removing skills.
Jenga is a group game where players take turns attempting to remove blocks from a 54 block tower without knocking it over. Once a player has removed a block, it is placed on the top of the tower. The game is over when someone knocks the tower over.
Ashley Agapiou is the chocolate Labrador retriever’s owner. She decided to throw a March Madness party at her home in Dallas, Texas. A group of friends came over to watch the basketball game and play some board games.
A Jenga tower was built on the coffee table and was waiting for players when the Labrador decided to play. Miss Remington, or Remy for short, walked up to the tower, and no one could believe what she did next.
The dog used her paw to maneuver and then pull a block out, and then grabbed it with her teeth. After successfully picking the block out, the entire room started cheering and clapping. Everyone was in shock that Remy was able to get the game piece without knocking the tower over.
Remy walked away with the block in her mouth like it was no big deal! Ashley had caught the moment on video and posted it to her social media. The video went viral, and Remy became an internet superstar.
Ashley said her guests were very focused on the basketball game, so no one was playing Jenga. Ashley didn’t care much about the game, so she was intently watching her dog. When she saw how intrigued Remy was with the tower, Ashley got her phone ready.
This was the first time Remy had ever seen a Jenga tower. No one could believe the dog had just removed a piece from the lower part of the tower.
A film crew who had interviewed Remy and her owners decided they wanted to see if the dog could win at Jenga again. The team set up a new Jenga tower and let Remy have another try. The Labrador approached the tower and, once again, used her paw to move a lower block. After pushing it out, Remy grabbed it with her teeth, just like the last time.
Remy had done it again! After another successful move, the chocolate Labrador ended up knocking the tower over with her body. Check out the great video below:
