Gemma Burton rides a public bus to and from work every day. She was on her way to school when an unusual passenger boarded the bus. It was a dog without an owner. The dog sniffed around as though looking for someone.
She looked around to search for its owner. After a few minutes, Gemma realized that the owner abandoned the dog. She took a picture of the lonely dog. When she uploaded and posted the photo on Facebook, it went viral with more than 3000 shares and 400 comments.
Since the viral post, a rescue organization Cliffe Kennels & Rescue, informed concerned people on Facebook that the dog was under their care. They needed to keep the dog for seven days in compliance with UK law. She would be put up for adoption if no one stepped forward to claim her.
The staff from the organization checked the pup and found her to be completely healthy. The Mastiff pup was three years old. They named the dog Olive, after one of the characters in a ’70s British TV show, “On The Buses.”
The rescue group was confident that they would soon find a loving family willing to take good care of Olive. It wouldn’t be long enough because the group already received a lot of calls from people who like to give Olive a new home.
The group also distributed pre-adoption forms as part of the screening process. They needed to make sure that Olive finds the perfect home and new family. The organization reminded interested parties that only one family could adopt Olive.
They looked forward to choosing the most deserving family that would take good care of Olive and would never abandon her again. Their hopes are high that she will find a better home considering her loving, friendly and loyal nature.
